Automotive Diagnostics Engineer; German Speaking / Contract

We are looking for an experienced Automotive Diagnostics Engineer to provide technical support and diagnostics for electric vehicle (EV) charging systems at the vehicle and component levels. This role requires hands-on expertise with ECU (Electronic Control Unit) flashing, diagnostic troubleshooting, and customer interactions within the automotive industry. The engineer will work directly with customers and be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of EV charging controllers, particularly in collaboration with OEMs like Porsche, Audi, and VW.
Please note that this role, whilst Remote in nature, will require travel to customer sites in Hemmingen, Weissach, Ingolstadt, Wolfsburg.
Key Responsibilities:

Customer Interaction (German Speaking):
- Serve as the primary technical interface with customers in Germany.
- Discuss new specifications and clarify system requirements directly with customers.
- Ensure effective communication between the customer and internal teams.

On-Site Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
- Facilitate offline and online diagnostic sessions to identify and resolve issues at customer locations (Hemmingen, Weissach, Ingolstadt, Wolfsburg).
- Flash ECUs (update vehicle software) on-site at customer facilities to solve issues and implement new features.
- Perform diagnostic checks on vehicles to identify and resolve error codes (DTCs) related to EV charging systems.

System Knowledge and Transfer:
- Develop a strong understanding of vehicle-level systems and EV charging components.
- Collaborate with other teams to share knowledge and ensure smooth system integration.
- Attend boot camps and training sessions at Porsche, Audi, VW, and other OEMs to stay updated on the latest diagnostic tools and techniques.

Technical Support:
- Provide support during troubleshooting sessions by using diagnostic tools to detect and fix problems with vehicle charging systems.
- Understand and transfer complex system knowledge to internal teams to improve overall project delivery.
Requirements:
- Fluency in German is required for direct communication with local customers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in automotive diagnostics, with a strong focus on electric vehicle charging systems and ECU flashing.
- Familiarity with DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) and tools used for troubleshooting vehicle systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work hands-on with vehicles in different settings (customer sites, workshops).
- Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, etc.) and diagnostic software tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with OEMs such as Porsche, Audi, or VW.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing technical support role.
- Ability to participate in technical boot camps and quickly learn new tools and techniques.
